Supremacy Of The Ants

I see it within everyone.
their potential needs to be sparked.
they are the youth you ridicule.
so overlooked and minuscule.
the kids society gave up.
the delinquents you'd never trust.
these are the kids you have labeled as trash,
even though you never gave them a chance.
the youths you have all abandoned.
all they need is some direction.
something to spark their souls.
direct their potential.
the kids you judge at first glance,
and look down your nose.
if you gave them just one chance,
they would prove themselves.
they've grown up alone.
no mother! - no father!
without any help.
they're better! - they're stronger!
you don't know their horror!
their will is far greater than yours.
they don't ask for anything more,
than what life has already given to them.
their hearts are made of what you can't understand!
when you're complaining and about to give up,
they continue searching for a stronger hope.
they can hold their own through the cruelest storms.
you'd be swept away in an instant's phase.
you see them below you're feet?
take a fucking look at yourself.
at least they can face defeat.
at least they can accept themselves.
what's behind your fucking name,
other than a soul, enslaved?
what is there for you to claim,
other than the fucking shame,
you are to the human race?
you're such a fucking disgrace.
I'm sick of it! - you're full of shit!
swallow your self-righteousness,
and choke on your piousness.
even if you saw their world,
you wouldn't give half a soul.
you're not being ridiculed,
while you're walking to the store.
judgement never glares at your fucking back.
you've never had to swallow your mistakes.
you never learn! - you're going to burn,
when the flames of your "second-class",
feast on your name like fire ants.
they only need a spark!

Author notes

This poem is dedicated to my fellow students at Crossroads. A lot of people doubt the abilities of students in alternative schools for many reasons, but I've found there are many brilliant and creative minds these schools. Everyone in my school is a self-thinking mind with confident voices to openly exchange their ideas. But, despite all their potential, there just aren't that many opportunities for them to make a contribution. This poem is about finding a spark of motivation to feed off of and inspire oneself to achieve all they are capable of, regardless of whatever the rest of the world may expect of them. This piece is not only for the unmitigated youths of our world, but for anyone else who has faced some form of short-coming in this life.

Hi, I'm sorry, but the title of the contest clearly says "16 and under", although, this poem is really, really good. Thank you anyway.
