Unit Abandoned

Missing image
Reminiscing then dismissing all the thoughts that cross my mind.
As I listen they go missing and they're all too lost to find.
Who is this then? Should we miss them? Is it our own thoughts combined?
My eyes glisten, what position? Where are all these spots of mine?

Can we hold out here Commander, will we be okay or fine?
Getting cold out here Commander, and I hope this pay is fine.
Our control out here is standard but our ropes are frayed and fried.
Getting pulled out here to ember, hope the ropes will stay real tight.

No radios we've lost contact, we don't know what to do.
It's crazy how they watched our backs and helped us the way through.
'Til one day they just launched it fast, and had most of the crew.
They left us to just watch and pass, die as most of us do.

Instead of holding to our ropes and hoping they'll come through.
Make bread, start molding our own soaps and we must start anew.
One day they may show up here, yes it's rescue overdue.
'Til then we must grow up here like the best survivors do.

Nicely done again, I'm a space cadet so I always enjoy these types of writes. Rminds me of "Lost in Space" from when I was growing up. Thank you so much for entering and best of luck to you in the contest... Scott

I thought this was sensationally written, and an imaginative use of the prompt. Fine storytelling. I am so looking forward to finding out who you are so I can read more of your work. Thank you so much for your entry!
