An attempt

Pacing back and forth. That is what these shoes were made for, the well-worn leather has been slowly eroded by years of doing just that. Pacing. Back and forth. Each shoe is predestined to lead a person to where they are meant to be. It took me years of pacing to figure that out.

The paths we walk are all laid down and well-planned before we decide to traverse them. Unfortunately her shoes were determined to lead her to death's door. They weren't anything flashy, no too-high patent leather daggers had ever even dared to touch her feet. They were simple, a moccasin cut in an off-color, not quite blue and not quite green. Stylish in a non-trendy way.

I had seen my fair share of shoes. Not that I stare openly at people's feet, but all you need is just a glance. From white loafers to galloshes. Each person has their own unique signature. The cheap, trendy shoes often lead to disaster, it was rare to find anyone going places in neon colored pumps that was worth going to. A person with practical shoes such as boring black crocs usually lived the longest, they refused to take risks. One woman with mousy brown hair and eyes hidden behind red rimmed glasses was on her way down a very lonely road. It made me want to approach her, tell her she was beautiful, let her know it would be okay to figuratively let her hair down every now and then.
