Vos Commoror

amor volat undique captus est libidine
amor alatus undique diledio capio
vestra pulchritudinus et possideo
mihi captivus ingruenter

semel super a aetas ego te volchis
iam invisio nobis
ego patterm amor carmen digilo tibi
umbru escensi in meus pectus pectoris
tenus restituo te

ego te amo omnia
amor omnia vincit
vae
vae te sunt nonnisi mei
tu estus ipse

similis a aegrotatio egrotatio
vos commoror
similis a sanguis als caedes
vos commoror omnies

This is a lovely poem, but there are some grammatical errors there.
Omnia means all/everything, and I believe you meant to say 'always' which is in Latin semper.
Also the line amor omnia vincit should be amor vincit omnia.
Words in Latin aren't too hard to know the meaning, but the construction of sentences can be very tricky

    Excellento!

I particularly liked the part "similis a aegrotatio egrotatio
vos commoror", I understand exactly where you're coming from on this! Bravo. 3 claps

God I wish I could read this lol

It is nice to see something other than english though

  • Oh boy! I'm sorry I don't understand Latin either. I even tried to use a translator so that I could leave you a thoughtful comment but the text was barely translated enough for me to even grasp the poem. Kudos to you for writing in something other than English though! I am jealous that you know a language that I do not! Thanks for sharing

  • Sweet. (L)

    Very Sweet.

  • Very romantic and very sweet. My Latin is not good enough to correct your syntax. Doesn't omnia mean all or whole. I seem to remember Gaul est omnia, in divisa partes tres, but I'm sure I don't remember it right--it's been over fifty years since I had my two years of Latin and had to read Julie's book. I enjoyed struggling with your poem and I think any Roman girl would be charmed by it.

    • yes, it does mean all/always.
thanks ever so much. you dont know how nice it is for someone to be able to understand it all lol
      thanks again ^_^

  • welli dont understand latin, but from what i could make out from the sorrow, it sounds like a poem full of emotion

well i understand some latin so i will try to translate it best i can.
"Love, winged from all sides he was taken on a whim
Love, winged from all sides, catches (or something along thoes lines)
    and your beauty holds
    me prisoner violently

a single time over, upon an age
now to go to see us
I pattern a love song for you
shade to ascend upon my heart
    to restore you

I am yours to love (omnia, don't know that word)
    love (omnia) conquers
    woe
    woe, you are not mine
    you warm him(?)

    so similar a sickness
    you remain
    so similar a bloodless slaughter
    you remain (omnies)
sorry, i just started learning latin myself recently, so this is a rough translation. helped me a bit though ^_^
well it seemed like a good job as far as i can read it.

    • pretty much, well done ^_^ i'm rather impressed. some words are out, but its the same meaning, like big and large.
i cant remember the exact translation myself (i'm not perfect at latin, i did use three dictionaries whilst writing this) but if i find the translation, i'll let you know ^_^

thanks ever so much, and well done again lol

I love this, though I can't understand it, it's beautiful nevertheless.
I've always wanted to learn, but never had the time ><
    Great work

    • i learn it a phrase a day. throw into google "gold scales latin phrases" a fantastic site comes up. i just learnt one phrase from that each day, then invested in a latin dictionary.
      thanks though ^_^

I didn't understand a word of this, but it was beautiful.
Latin is such a wonderful language.
I'm glad to see a poem completely composed of it!
    Brilliant work, keep it up.
    Thank you for sharing.

Ha ha, the benifets of a self taught world. This is one record beaking heart numbing poem, it stops me, stopped me i should say, in my tracks, i mean when you told me it was in latin i was indending to find some grable that you just took from a dictonary or something but insted i come across a wonderous peice that is clearly written from the heart and not for the sake of 'you can'.

I would admit, i don't know any one else who can read latin and i myself am limited and didn't understand the whole peice therfor i would say you write a translation in AN or a new poem for those are, shall we say, nor quite as intelligent as thy?

You really ought to enter this in contests and in the fetured poetry section!

    Best of luck,
    Ecki

    • really? awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwh! thankies! youve made my day now ^_^

      translation?!
tbh i cant understand half of it myself lol i wrote it with the aid of a dictionary, but i dont remember every last word.

that last comment made me grin ^_^ so thank you. i think i might now lol

      very very many thanks.
