i. I knew that stars and stripes
were imprinted on my future;
tattooed to my forehead -
an accusing brand.
Bluffed my way to the top;
a fake smile can do wonders
if you remember the super glue and whiteout.
I wish I could remember what real looked like.
ii. Time meant that goodwill and kindness faded away;
drifting into the background
until no one seemed to care.
Bodies grew to love foul fumes;
absorbing them like a sponge does water
- cavities were worn into teeth,
until we were nothing but holes.
Oh what it would be; to be whole again.
iii. Even patience grew tired of waiting;
instead stood poised to flee,
indeed it seemed intent on bailing
weary of submission.
Who could blame it, it was what all would do if they could;
what else could we do,
but follow the good examples, our leaders set.
Even New Zealand had succumbed.

That's okay, it is quite a tricky prompt this time around. Made good and interesting entries however :]
This included. Very out-of-the-box which is always good, and I loved the ending ^^
Thank you for entering,
I wish you the best of luck;
