This Is My End

Under the unfaltering pressures of life,
My soul dies.
In Innumerable pieces like the sands of the desert,
My heart lies.

Into my life you brought an emotion,
Love extraordinary.
But like the winds of time unchanging,
You didn’t tarry.

Built up in me like water behind a dam,
I’m barred.
Like the craters of the moon clearly visible,
Forever scarred.

With the force of two worlds colliding,
I’m torn apart.
The casualty of this destructive ending,
Only my heart.

A piece of me now gone, what’s left,
A black hole.
Spirited away from me like a thief in the night,
My lost soul,

My mind filling with thoughts of you,
Can I shout?
Torturing my ever weakening mind,
Get them out.

You had dropped into my life like a shooting star,
From heaven above,
To me you were an angel a godsend you see,
I was in love.

Separating me from you would be hard,
You need a knife.
I wanted, needed, desired you,
In my life.

What I didn’t know was coming,
Like a last breath.
Your intentions were to end it all,
Loves quick death.

Your words they hit me like a bullet,
Literal pain.
The feeling grew inside me like a cancer,
My hearts bane.

An eternal struggle wages war within,
Why fight?
My emotions a ruined wasteland inside,
Souls plight.

And from my dying heart my soul,
I rend.
The pain it all is killing me,
This is my end.

  • The emotion of this is clear and concise. Your word choice make us feel the depth of the pain, the emptiness, and the hollowness of the soul. I liked the way you broke it up and the shorter rhyming lines read like bullets straight to the heart.
