For a moment and only a moment it lingers
So sorry for the meeting and even if it has meaning
So it will be dust and disdain
If I made up what I saw and gullible you remained
Would the shooting star remain
If once there was a light it could burn bright
But only to the eye could it live or die
Then a shooting star is just for the eye
And even if the shine stains the glimmer
I could deny it dimmer and pretend I never saw her
touch the moon, caress the water
And if all we ever are is a shooting star
Then hide me to the sky, until I die

Author notes
This was written by my son who passed away a year ago. I am now just gaining the strength to read through his notebooks of poetry and lyrics. This is one of my favorites so far. On the top of the page this poem was written on he had wrote " homage to Nothing Gold can Say."
