A Love Song With Dignity

Meet me under this burning bridge
You come so close to getting your wish
But the latest news you must've missed
Because I'm not like the other girl you kiss.

Open you’re eyes and see
That I am exactly what you need
I watch the way to look at me
So tell me what I want to hear.
Don’t hold back don’t bite your tongue
Know I’m in this for the love
Hearing what you think is only have the fun.

I know that you don't like me
At least not the way you did
And you can't help but to plea
Of forgiveness of this sin.
But baby, who are you to judge;
When your closet isn't clean
The jury has the verdict
You're the one who's obscene

Months go by and our feelings die
And you treat me like a stranger
Then you run back so that you can try
To bring alive what we had before.

I fell for your tricks before
But sweetie, that will be no more
You thought I didn't change at all?
Baby, I'm not who you knew before.
This go around, it's my games we play
I lead you on and I advert the pain
It's mind games you want? It's mind games you'll get.
The ball's in my court, did you already forget?

And you told me an apology
So heartfelt so sweet
But the sad this is
It's not what I believe.

I've never mastered saying good-bye.
But just this once it comes from inside
The words flow easy out of my mouth
In the same sense of your lies.
Good-byes have never been fun
But the words stand true in this one:
This is our last goodbye...it's over,
just hear this and then I'll go:
you gave me more to live for than you will ever know
Like, seeing that the future really does have some hope
Now that I can say that all the pain is away
And never in my life again will I have to see your face.

Author notes

So, this is the first poem that I've written in over about 5 months. It was originally for this band that I WAS in, but I took parts out, wrote different parts in the old places, and revamped it; and this is where it's at now! I know the tags and title say it's about love, and in a way it is. It's just a side of love that most usually don't see. So basically, tell me what you think of it! If you think something should be different in it, go ahead and tell me what to change, and tell me how to make it better. Thanks!

What did you think

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!
