I quite enjoyed this one. In saying one thing you are in reality saying another.
A man of many words and depth can reach the stars.

    Works for me.

Perhaps that should be "explain" the stars instead of "reach"
    in the last line there,
for we "reach" them in mind through our comprehension of them,
whether our interruption be right or wrong.

Just as with every thing we view we see it on an personal level
and as such comprehend it according to "our current position".
There is an old saying that goes,
"When the student is ready, the master appears."

We can not teach a correct understanding of astrophysics to a first
grader, but we can teach a basics. Then with each new step in
learning we can add to that "base" until they "are ready" and can
finally comprehend it in it's entirety.

Anything can be understood through the reduction to it's opposites,
that combined state of duality, that exists though all. If all we see is
love then we can never understand why bad happens in relationships
or life in general, but if we see that good and bad are but two sides
of a single coin, then we can see that each flip is determined by our
choices. Since change is the constant of the universe, we can try to
exist in a single unit, but life also has the power to flip "our" coin, so
we can not stop bad from coming (an action) but we have full control
over our (re-action) to any action that does come.

Therein is the power to obtain happiness irregardless of what change
comes into our life. We can't win all the battles as they say, but in
end we can win the war. For what is failure when all is said and done
except the simple act of quitting, or giving up. As long as we are choosing
we still in end hold the final say, for even if we choose wrong, once we
realize that, we then have the power to choose it's opposite and in doing
so we WILL reach that state we desire. We don't always get what we
"want" but we WILL get what we "need".

I may not be able to physically reach those stars, but I can reach
them mentally and in seeing their "blink" I see too that they are in
a state of flux just as myself and so in reality are are but ONE.

As I reach out to the stars, they too in turn reach out to me...

Have a lovely week my friend

    Hugs...Eddy

    Remember:
"It is the darkness between the stars, that allows us to see them at all..."

Aww this reminds me of a wise fortune cookie..lol
I've had people tell me that they feel they don't need to say I love you in words. They would rather it be shown instead. I think we need both. No matter how well some may mean things, nothing can replace mattering to them enough for them to find the words and express themselves.

    Mi querida hija,

If brevity's indeed the soul of wit,
and Yem considers comments mostly shit,
why is it Kevin asks for greater length
of comments which, while boring, lack in strength?

It seems to me that, with this latest lot
of points for comments, K. has lost the plot,
    for quantities of characters abstruse
may, to the author, be of little use.

    @#$%^&*&^%$#@!@#$%^&*QWERTYUIOP

'Twere better to condense into one line
a useless comment such as this of mine,
than stretch the tune by adding surplus bars
just for the sake of winning extra stars.

We should, in future, each say what one thinks
about each poem - even if it stinks!

Aplausos, mucho amor, abrazos y besos, XXX el padre.

    intent has no regent
    if legs forget to move
    our steps will soon prove
    to what depth we repent

    faith without works is dead.

    thats my take anyway.

    great stuff.

When I read this title I was sure you must have a teenage neighbour similar to the specimen we have been lumbered with. You’d know him in an instant, a cheeky rustic smile, untamed blonde curls and your daughter would find reasons to dote whenever she can engineer a chance meeting, for some inexplicable reason.

Why he has a yeaning obsession with the destruction of our mailbox is something I’m becoming keen to understand.

How his mother actually found out about his after dark yean to destroy my personally crafted roadside masterpiece I’m not sure. I did entertain the notion of confronting her but opted for the he’ll grow out of it, his brain isn’t yet wired correctly, approach.

Personally, there is little pleasure to be gained from his having finally being grounded, though I feel our mailbox probably thinks a week isn’t long enough.

I remember some time ago I followed an interest in creative writing. The lecturer caught my attention with the statement, "If you want to be boring make sure you don't leave anything out."

Oh I almost forgot; Ms Goes, I do so enjoy your ‘death’ poems. You have the gift. Thank you.

Yes, Mari, we carry the world in our pockets (hearts) and hopefully a LOT of that world gets enough reviews to breech the distance between earth and stars. And even if we never quite make it, the pleasure and sadness in our efforts to get there makes it all worthwhile. And there's times when some of the meanings and efforts leak through the holes as the pockets become worn. But there always seem to remain, enough of our hopes and dreams to keep us reaching for the stars.

A superb haiku and a meaningful write

It is not honest we people of the compressed form should earn black holes. As we use to say thousand more with our few little words than any other Shakespeare ever would. Thus let our stars shine as a black beauty.
But what does a man knows who only shortly lost his superman-power. We still can forgive him but lets do it in a meaningful way. As he had probably good intentions.
This should be enough I think

    Reaching the stars

    Brilliance in a small form,
will no longer be the norm
oh the beauty of the ants
now like the clown, in baggy pants
we will all be smaller than we seem
and our words greater than they mean

Its not the size of the art that matters most
but the amount of heart in the thoughts we post

YES! Size is so relative, isn't it?
      Think of David and Goliath

True meanings come in different packages, mine is small

I wonder if they star comments in Afrikaans or Dutch too, Mari . This 100 characther thing is so silly. Perhaps I can just translate the English to Afrikaans or Dutch and then you can star my comment. lolol!!!

I love what you did here, especially since I read your comment on the column Kevin posted - I've put my two cents worth in there too. Ek is seker jy sal verstaan as ek sê dat dit nou rerig so 'n simpel idee i - die 100 sterre-ding!!

Welgedaan - jy is 'n skerp ene en jou sterrietjie skyn helder hier! Good work this, Mari. hey, i'm touching the stars

I read your comment there, and would applaud if I could, you said it very well. But well, we are mere members of this site and our voice might not reach the high sky

    Hmmmmmm....searching thru memory bank--
man of few words---nope---don't recollect any---
most I know are of the bubbin' kind.

Oh, I can so see the bulging pockets
    stuffed with meaning!

Just came in from the patio,
    pockets stuffed with seven tomatoes,
medium sized, as big as the early ones get!

Sounding like Yem is a pretty darned good thing,
even if is obsessing about food!!!!

Did you notice the box when cicked still reads
"rate this comment." Makes it look as if we don't care!!!!!

No wonder I can't get anywhere... I'm having trouble putting it all together Sunday is my day of self-reflection, and having read this first thing in the morning is a blessing in disguise to me. Thank you for sharing these thoughts, my friend.

LMAO, there was and is something endearing about you...when you get a bee in your bonnet you stomp on that bonnet until that bee is good and dead. Ok, it wasn't so endearing when I was the bee, but as an outsider yeah, I admire that in my odd Mayne way, lol.

No, I just counted, it wouldn't get any. But this would get five. I never thought to say this (ever) but it's good to be me! lol
