tall dark skinned reflection staring back at me
eyes were engaged
stood still and demanded myself to search
so
i began combing my thick, black tangled locks
bedroom eyes swelled
red and puffy
pink tinged meadows
misty dew fields
trickled tired drops of overdue tears
it felt like plunging into deep cold waters
feet first
no head first
belly flopped instead
stung so good to know i'm still alive
tempted to straighten this crunchy ball of knapps
slowly grasped my jar of nourishment
smooth on the palms
coconut cream love pies in the parts
bristles played smooth melodies
no hot comb tonight
i'm still finding me
