Painful Merit Paid

Unravel a mind

where death shall not

demand a country in kind,

and give up his life all noble forgot

a stain upon his heart.

A painful merit paid,

and saved his pity of living

for pleating thoughts laid

a privilege onced love, giving.

Contorted to rural works

where blood stained a charm

upon his heart fled and lurks

in vain and yet flea, forearm.
