Siren Sea Becoming Me

Oceanic steps arrive with satin skin
glimmering night moon's light
seductive invitation to catch the drift

and... I

am innately drawn
to a minding maw of meetings
twirling me in lee of breath that savors salt,
squeezing until I am wrought
in helpless scud

and ...I

am led to affinities with fish and shell
and all things that smell
till I become much more

my limits now
wetting upon the shore
in variant of mood the sliding tide

and...I

    Entrancing

The ebb and flow of this poem entranced me in the sight, sound, smell and taste of the sea. This poem carries me away to mystical place that would create a haunting memory. There's an old song called "A Salty Dog", by the group Procol Harum. Your poem reminded me of it, and it's melody resounds within this piece. I hope you would consider that a compliment if you have ever heard the song. Otherwise, I would think you would be the "salty dog" after describing this experience (and the "dog" here is a good thing).

i was attached to the first version of this piece - though i admit i don't lament the absence of beelzebub from this version. i tried to go back and look at the previous version the other day to note the changes but couldn't find it.
anyway - this is a lovely sentiment, lovely write.

Stunning. I had to read this three times and will now have to add it to my list of must read poems on my page.

I am not necessarily thrilled with the background; but I am stuck with it until I have adjustments made with my computer. I am so pleased that you have taken the trouble to work through my poem. The sea can be quite hypnotic and seductive; and we do want to "become" a part of it.
