I guess you realize by now
It was a foolish thing
To love a man with calloused hands
Who rarely plans
Past the day after tomorrow
A man whose best friends were an open sky, salty air
Full moon, tender pen, foaming trail
Billowing sail, navy beans and healing wings
Silent words of hope
Hope that floats across a distant sea
He sailed a trail
Found strength that only he could see
Moist eyes and open heart
When scales fell away
When words could say
The things that made
Fears wash away
Sink into the deep
When storms only
Made him strong
Make one long for the day
He'll stay with you at home
If the sea will let him be

This is a beautifully tender piece, Scribe. Well done, Ben-Jammin'.

oh, how well done...far-edged...and descriptive....nicely nicely penned.
