ring into my ears,
softly whispering out
my name,
appealing to me,
desiring only
their requirement,
and mine.
for,
they are me...
we are one...
Obligation is not a word
dwelling within me,
it is love,
for them,
by me,
affording the strength
I need
to supply the appeal
offered to me
by the Lord
in His name..
for their sake...
They are my blood,
my passion,
and reason for
every breath
I am awarded
in this lifetime
and theirs as well...
What I may lack
in the many layers
of my entity,
those empty spaces
we all inherit,
is replaced by
the presence
of my loved ones,
not what I can offer,
rather the devotion
I retain for them.
They are the source
of my energy,
the protein sustaining
the nucleus of
who I am,
and have become.
" I cherish all of you."
" You are my ambition;
to conquer each moment
of my life
in the same manner
you have attained
your own;
with courage and respect".
" We are family"
" We are one"

Unimaginably beautiful. A fellow poet just used the word unimaginably. Imagine that! I don't know about you, but I call that pretty high Praise.

This is a wonderfully thoughtful gift for your friend Susan. For those who give so much of themselves constantly, it is certainly an encouragement when someone takes the time to give something back. Many caregivers become empty vessels when people don't step up to help them out when they need it most. Then again, I never did believe in the "give and take" status quo - I always thought we should share. Good for you, Poet. I see how much she needed and appreciated your efforts for her sake.

if only we could all say we have someone like that in our fighting corners, you know life can be pretty damn rough and downright unfair too, but in the end there are moments when people who do reach out can make all the difference and yes even on a site such as AP you will find those giving souls.
There are moments when I wish the jumper off the hotel balcony was me, there are moments when I wish the shooting victime was me or that poor child that was killed by a depressive mother was me but you know this life is what it is.
We all have that cross to bear and some do seem to find the strength to help some along the stations they must cross.
I like it, I like it so!

The power of Love
Come through so well in this tribute poem to our Suzi. She is a mentor, an inspiration, a rock to hang on to. She has seen her share of turbulent seas, and yet she goes on. She fairly bubbles with enthusiasm, while coaxing the rest of us to keep up. Your tribute poem is simply beautiful. Again I'll say that you have such a great ability to become someone else and state their lives and POV simply and beautifully with your words. Great write. Rose.

John... I am in tears, how ironic that I am reading this after just posting the journal entry that I posted. I have to wonder if I had read this first would I have even posted it, perhaps not as I would have been too teary eyed to have written it. I'm relying on typing skills alone for this review as I can't see the screen, so if there are errors, please forgive them.
I am glad I formed my opinion on this poem prior to getting to the author notes as I can say that this review is an honest review and is not tainted by the notes, there is no bias involved here, you have my word.
You wrote a very powerful poem here and as many of your poems go it was a versatile piece that could be interpreted in more than one way. I found it to be pretty profound in meaning and one that grabbed my attention from that very first line and held my attention hostage until that last closing line. ( which by the way was a great closer!)
I do want to thank you for your author notes. I have been really depressed lately as I'm sure you have picked up on that fact. It is nice to know one is appreciated and you have been such an incredible support to me... I love you my friend!
