expectancy theory

she aimed
her slingshot wish
above ursa major

and, with fingers
worked to the bone,
dug a poem
in the dunes of sky -

but from her
acid-eye evaluation
a grain of salty truth
never missed:

with only a
dream-scented arrow

she's taking down the stars.
