~ Hope~

I‘ve walked down

roads of loneliness

and watched,

lovers in their stolen

moments.

window lit

where families gathered

only deepen my sorrow

more.

But never

thought or dared to hope

to feel.

Or hear such words

oh how they grace my
soul,

To tremble

at your will.

    Very Lovely

Even though the tone is wistful, the words flow softly with a heart filled with hope, beautiful!

A poem of deep emotion, beautifully expressed.
A little sad, but the ending lifts it into the realm of possibilities, that can bring new experiences, hopes and dreams, perhaps previously viewed as unattainable.
    Great write.

How do we ever leave the memories behind? How do we see beyond our crumpled psyches? And yet, we find love -- not what others would see as love, but feels like love to you and me.

Your poem has touched me deeply, Rend. Bravissimo!

    Love,
    Camille

I am convinced that to be alone, without human contact, is a fate worse than death.

    Powerful words my dear.

  • Oh! So! Beautiful!

This piece reminds me of Hans Christian Andersons book title, "The Little Match Girl" except in a different light...Wonderful portral of "looking from the outside in" in relation to "LOVE".

Wow... This touched me so, being a lonely soul much of my life, regardless of it be by choice or self-inflicted... You use so little and "hugely" convey what many, many feel on so many different levels... I've often passed a home with lit windows that I know contains a family I know and wonder, why don't I have that... that... What's most revealing and sad about such thoughts is that it is usually only ourselves that probably keep us from that... SIgh... Just the other day I crossed a beautiful, old covered bridge and thought of Bridges of Madison County, and had thoughts of wanting such love... This reminds me of that particular feeling and so many more similar ones in my life... Well, well, done... Thank you so much for sharing!!!

    Peace,
    Russell

    Beautiful Piece

It seems you and I have shared paths, as I can truly relate to each line...Loneliness, in my opinion, is one of the hardest lessons we'll ever learn, but also a time of growth and reflection.

This is a very hard emotion to bear, without thinking a little -a lot. everyday, in a movie or on a song, riding and striding along the heart-felt pain that coasts right along with it. great poem even though it hurts me to read it and remember; yep, great dam* poem.

a good poem, ah to travel the times, the roads of loneliness and sorrow, it can be ahrd, but there is always hope, it never leaves, and when the sparkle of love shines, the heart and soul soar.

At times watching others who have what we want most can be more painful than anything else, as we truly see what we've been missing. Nice write!!

    Rend,

I like the emotional sparseness at first and the hope promised in the end. I played with the spacing and slight rewording below to see if visually a greater sense of emotional poverty could be evoked. Let me know what you think. Nice piece.

    Jack

    I

    Walked lonely roads
    Watched lovers' stolen moments

    Winnowing lights of families gathered
    Only deepened my sorrow

    I

    Never thought to hope
    Never dared to feel

    Hearing your words
    Would grace my soul

    I

    Tremble at your will.

I felt a chill when I read this... there is a sense of being forever seperated from the warmth of comforting, safe love... then your last two stanzas seem to suggest that the seperation could be dissolving... through an invitation into or an opportunity to experience such peace or belonging.... acceptance still felt or seemed tentative though.
I fully accept that I am likely to be a million miles away from your intended message or actual inspiration here Rend.. but I do like to share what I felt and what I saw.

Always intriguing and always a pleasure to read you.

It pains me to read these words Rend, you know at times I feel like family is nothing more than a morbid illusion for the hungry souls, something for thier minds to savor when all hope rests upon everything tied to the race we must endure day after day.

  • I agree with PerVirtuous.

So fluid, so natural - but succinct and honest, not a wasted word. Wish I could do that. I yammer and never quite get to the feelings behind my words.

    I never reach the point.

You are blessed, my sis...God love you.

  • Very beautiful and very easy to relate to, though loneliness can still strike unwanted and by surprise, even when you are in the midst of the most loving moments, when you are secure, comfortable and within the deepst and most intense feelings and emotions of love.

Loneliness is as skulking, opportunistic trickster, though it teaches us to cherish all the more those moments and hopefully inspires us to fight all the more never to loose them.

    Good write.

    • i know, as you have expressed to me and I so related my friend,
