My Angel ~~Lydia

I watch my angel
Spread her immense wings
She weeps for me as she sings

Her somber songs of now and then
Wondering if I'll ever return again
To be safe and warm within her skin

But the devils got his hold on me
That mother fucker just won't let me be
He's beaten me down 'til I'm to weak to see

And my poor sweet angel
Hangs her head regretfully

Author notes

I think my guardian angel's name is Lydia...so that's where the Lydia part comes from in the title.

  • Good job.

I read it and then I read it again. I read it fast the first time and I subconsciously read some things into it. the second time it seemed to be missing something. I put it as I thought it was. it is still your poem, this is just my form of suggestion. I did not mean to offend you but I felt it needed more description here and there.

I watch the angel serendipity brings
as she slowly spreads her sin stained wings
Weeping for me as she softly sings

Her dark somber songs of now and then
make me wonder if I can ever return again
To be safe and warm within her skin

But the devil has got his hold on me
That mother fucker won't let me be
He has beaten me down repeatedly

    And my poor sweet angel
    hangs her head regretfully
as she cries for me eternally

    great poem

I like your poem. My favorite stanza was "Her somber songs of now and then
Wondering if I'll ever return again
To be safe and warm within her skin" It sounds like you are the angel though with that last line "safe and warm within her skin". Overal, great poem. Applause.
