Mama Jesus

mama rich
mama poor
with bad habits
symmetrical features

mama flinched
mama flew
with rotted teeth
pretty lips, cheeks

i saw mama fall
and i picked her up
rag doll

i saw mama fucked
and i never looked away
mama is always the same

mama fucks jesus
drunk off holy water
mama is mother

she left me
called me a sinner
not one for redemption
anymore

mother left me to the birds
the streets
the wonder
mother sent me to the fire
for a cure

one less baby to carry
when that earth starts a shaking

mothers dead
or i'm dead
isn't it the same thing
might as well be

mama jesus

up and left me

to fly into clouds

a pitfall of dreams

Author notes

it's bitter sweet love. i doubt this is what you were asking. i hardly follow the rules. i really like the idea and this is just something that kicks in my head in relation to boring, complex love. the love of a parent and their neglect. thank you for reading!

    this is refreshing. thank god.

"mother left me to the birds"

That, my fellow poet, is a line worth quoting.
