Ghost In The Rain

Another stormy day again, there's no one around to listen.
Once a young girl with marvelous dreams, but Daddy was never there to bounce you on his knee.
Instead at four you drop his coffin rose, a mysterious man with secrets beyond the grave that only a few would know.
Secrets are dangerous, but can they also kill?
At a tender age he wrecked your dreams, although you were his favorite or so it seems.
While he was there he gained your trust to only later use it all against you.
More of a stranger than a father with all his broken promises, manipulation, and hopeless lies.
Before you knew it, you lost your innocence as a gentle child of no more than five.
Years later it still comes back to haunt you.
No matter where you run, sweet darling you can't escape.
Beneath the smile, I can see your pain.
And there may be sun, but it still always rains.
Although your cries may be unheard, the past will always remains.
A careful eye can see, her ghost in the rain.
Now you're a grown young woman with a husband and a new child, happiness is temporary, but you enjoy the break.
Having children of your own you feel a sense of joy, but as the years go on all the pain and hurt won't go away.
Unaware of your past secrets, when the kids are older you decide to have a little fun.
You've had a few too many, but you're still not done.
Covering up the pain day after day with bottles of wine, you close the blinds.
Once you know all is clear, you hang your head to cry.
You can't hide or run away, the past remains as a part of you today.
Beneath the smile, I can see your pain.
And there may be sun, but it still always rains.
Although your cries may be unheard, the past will always remain.
An empathatic eye can see, her ghost in the rain.
The time has past and kids are grown, but your lack of help feeds your bad habits to grow.
The lack of knowledge led to your downfall.
Now they're placing flowers atop a casket.
Tears are running in rememberance of the amazing girl that they recall.
God only knows, why he chose to take her so fast.
The coffin lid may be sealed, but she will never die.
Secrets are dangerous, but can they also kill?
Beneath the smile, I can see your pain.
And there may be sun, but it still always rains.
Another victim's eye can see, her ghost in the rain.
Another victim seeeked help among the chaos.
For awhile she hit rock bottom, but came out all right.
She's learned to forgive the monster, but never forget the past.
Then by the lost soul's grave, she hangs her head to cry.
Although deep down she will always remember, the lost souls can rest in peace.
Victims cannot be forgotten, for awareness to be raised.
You may feel alone, but there will always be others.
Could be a friend, sister, or even a mother.
Please don't allow their cries to be silenced, allowing them to always be a ghost in the rain.
Beneath the smile, I can see your pain.
And there may be sun, but it still always rains.
Although your cries may be unheard, the past will always remain.
An angel's eye can see her ghost in the rain.
Love can help the pain fall through.
With someone close to hold, and listen.
Don't be afraid to let hope in, and know that you are a survivor and not a victim.
Beneath the smile, I can see your pain.
And there may be sun, but it still always rains.
Although your cries may be unheard, the past will always remain.
As the years go on and the past remains, I still can see your ghost in the rain.
