Who do you think you are?
You think you can slam with the rest of us
But you can't keep pace with the best of us
You don't have the heart
The integrity to be
Totally honest with yourself
With the world
Your poetry is nothing
Empty promises
BS
I'm calling you on your bluff
I've had enough
Of the stupid love poems that don't mean a thing
And the words that you always hear the radio sing
About perfect love
Well, I'm here to straighten you up
And tell you that it doesn't exist.
Peg me as the bad guy if it'll please you
But the words I speak are true
There's no such thing
As fairytale love
Love ain't simple.
It's a monumental task
Most of you don't even have the guts
To really adore someone
It's too much work for you
So you turn to the myth that is
Ever present in our society
That love is easy
Please. Gag me.
I'll tell you,
Love can make a stormy day bright
But it can also turn your best times
To your darkest night
And when it happens
You give up because
You don't have the courage-
No.
You're just too stupid to try to work at it
Or maybe you think that it wasn't
"Meant to be"
And hey,
You just might walk out
On the best thing that ever happened to you.
But who am I to give you clues?
You'll play the game however you like
And the chip will fall wherever they will.
Of course,
When you realize the mistake you made
I'll be there to say
"I told you so"

Just something that popped out or whatever you want to call it. It headed in its own direction as soon as I started writing it.
