only a letter separates us
the distance between a and b
always a letter a part
lips locked like a landfill
but just an oasis, always
a few more steps away
and our bodies keep colliding
the tracks and the train
the worry -
caught in our bellies, the butterflies of time.
and yet;
still touching through these fishnet wires
i always did think i was invicible.
heads nestled together - birds in their feathers
hands knotted together - a loose string tied
see? always one letter off
or maybe just a body part away.
and the script keeps running.
you’re playing the actor, collecting your secrets.
i never know who you are
and who you’re pretending to be.
all the remainders
all the reminders
(only one letter away)

the start and finish usually look the same.

  • Wow, nicely done and expressive. It sits in my mind and allows me to draw on my own frame of reference while guiding me along nicely. I like that effect in poetry. Glad I stopped by for a click
