The Moon-Bell - Sonnet VI

The moon extends a fragile silver hand
To graze her beams across the tower bell -
Then from its throat a throbbing music swells:
A lonely voice above the sleeping land.

Its hollow declaration, strand by strand
  Unfolds in somber waves against the sky;
The trees do rustle with a soft reply:
A lonely voice above the sleeping land.

Behind the tower stone the ropes are manned
By hosts of phantom maidens, glowing, pale
Who sound the moonstruck bell beneath the veil -
A lonely voice above the sleeping land.

The moon extends a fragile silver hand -
A lonely voice above the sleeping land.

This is a beautiful piece. It's been a while since I read a poem of yours, and it's my good fortune that one of your poems is on the front page. I've only favorited 6 other poets on this site to this point, but I think it is time I favorited you, as your poems are truly a joy to read.

    Excellent

"By hosts of phantom maidens, glowing, pale
Who sound the moonstruck bell beneath the veil"

Not a loudspeaker born minaret, but a beautifully musical bell tower.

This is a superb sonnet (a sort of re-tooled Petrachan) expertly done and able to conjure lush and fantastic images. A great write, indeed!!!
