Yup, type tap tap tap click
Froooohm, it's a keyboard car
And it scares away all the mice.
Speakers of the house, at ease,
Your covers aren't blown
And you're playing Tim Capello,
Still Believe,
And a song by the Go-Go's
That I'd been trying to remember for years.
Head Over Heels.
My mom used to play that song from that cassette tape
And we'd blast it from our car,
and,
unless my memory fails me,
That car was run on a QWERTY engine, I'm pretty sure --
It had some six-letter combo, anyway --
And either the radio or the speedometer was kept consistently in the 80's
And that's fast enough and long enough ago for me.
And the sun always shines
Differently in my childhood memories --
And even when I was a kid my present felt nostalgic
And I remember my favorite present ever
It was a tall Magneto-toy that projected X-Men images on the
Wall when I turned out all the lights.
I remember having misplaced it
I spent years searching for it amidst toy boxes,
Garage boxes,
Basement boxes,
Once-searched boxes,
Twice-searched boxes,
I found mouse-droppings in the wooden, blue toy box,
I knew Magneto was somewhere
But I guess I gave up on it when I forgot about it and
Got my hopes up again when I remembered how cool Magneto was,
But I guess I don't look for him now because all I can do now
Is type-uh-type-uh-backspace-type
And continue to listen to Tim Capello
and
The Go-Go's
And figure it's just good driving music,
And I really wish my favorite villain weren't so utterly lost.

Reminiscing I guess.

Wow, memories...
And hell yes to old Mags being a kick ass villian!
(though not my favorite Marvel baddy anymore, still a favorite amoung favorites)

This is one of those nice ones that really makes me think about the quality of my present. Whether or not my present is nostalgic--something I'll remember fondly--or if I'm never going to want to remember it. Am I even living in the present? Do I spend all my time looking for Magneto or do I just sit back and listen to Tim Capello and the Go-Go's? Very effective piece, Max, thanks for sharing something true and so delightfully fuzzy around the edges.
