The tranquil summer night whispers.
I watch the darkness
behind the veil of branches,
dressed in the vanishing light
entering the wide open windows.
It is time for bed.
I take my clothes off.
With closed eyes
I inhale the smell of the recent rain
and I shiver
thinking of you.

Your second stanza is a poem all by itself, my Friend. This is quite lovely & tender, Sweetie. Good luck in the contest.

CALMING TO ONES HEART!!
Just to sit after a summer rain and let the fresh smell wrap around you as you think of one who is in your heart (sigh)

The scent of fresh rain is wonderful. It seems to inspire more than one poet. Nice job.
