Bent Voice

Red leaves will crack, or watch their world turn dead
My roots were weak and painful; so was I
Bled lifeless while the bark is poorly fed
‘Why must this be so hurtful?’ I reply

For far too long, we’re naked and we’re sore
It isn’t fair that we’re forced to submit
Your heartless way of life has lead to war
Commit your fate, since forces have been split

Awake without a blanket we can fake
This frosty tone of silence is amiss
Mistake, besides the pain, was not to ache
Dismiss the signals, now a cold abyss

Denied our shelter and our sense of pride
Inside our foes will wish that they had died

ahh!! now here's a form I've yet to read...nice! and I'm sure Amera has like every form on her page..lol..she's so talented..this is lovely..a nice form for autumn i believe..and you can take the form as an extension of the poem...as I see autumn to be the shadow of winter

She is brilliant, yes. In fact, I first found a shadow in one of her poems. I think most shadow poems use either the same word shadowed or a homophone. Not a shadow of winter, because Autumn is so much better, but I do see Autumn as the shadow of the year, where everything starts to die away.

Wow! I couldn’t be more impressed or honored. You have taken the Shadow Sonnet to a new level and in a different direction than I or anyone else has. The original form guidelines specify that the first and last words should be identical or homophonic. You used the form with a twist and made them rhyme. Fantastic! This really took some talent and skill because you had to have four rhyming words for each segment. Not only that but you composed a wonderful, meaningful , dark and intelligent piece while doing so.
I’m adding this masterpiece to my Shadow Sonnet List!
    Standing ovations!

    Love,
    Amera♥
