Please,
Don't cast those weary eyes
Upon my pale face
I cannot bare this burden
This chip upon my already weighted shoulders
Pulls me down with every move
Every slight step
I trip and fall
With this tired shell,
For a body that has no reason
Is hollow
Deserves no name
And therefore is a shell,
Damaging an already open wound
Tearing at the fringes of my soul
I see the look you give me
Desire and love burn in your eyes
All in mine are swimming dark pools
Filled with the cold and harsh waters
Of unforgivable mistakes
And harsh, hateful regrets
I wish upon every star
I see in this summers night
That I could spark that magic flame
That fiery wonder that is the love
I see in the deepest realms of your soul
Lingering
Waiting for the perfect spirit to
Drift in a sheer starlight's blaze
To sing its song of utter hallelujah
As much as we might both
Dream and pray that we could maybe be
Love is a cruel, dangerous game
Playing may cause a pain so deep
It penetrates even the unknown corners
Of the most light of hearts
It strikes us at our most unsuspecting
And rains blows upon us that even
The strongest of us
Cannot brave and survive with
Our spirits still flying
In the same starlight they began in
It tints itself as we grow into ourselves
Love is what I have felt
It touched the deepest depths of my heart
And it now continues beating
For the sole reason that is
Should be touched again
Love is only lost forever
Within every part of a living soul
When love is not wanted
And not fought for

Oh my! I've been reading poem after poem lately and can't find one that I can actually say I like, or worth commenting because I couldn't tell them what they wanted to hear. But this is just a beautiful poem, brilliant.
You did a marvelous job. Keep it up!!

I love this, this story of love lost and therefore a love that is unable to be returned. i think you mean "sole reason that it should be touched again" on the last two lines of the fourth verse. i like what you say about how love is only lost forever if it is not wanted or fought for.
