The vocabulary for the three part progression of these writes is stellar, like I hear the words in this write as an ominous voice over for a clip of space, stars and earth.

I think my comment on your first piece in some ways could apply to this one as well.

In the drawing I particularly like the light shining from a doorway in one of the boxes. Even though the eyes can play tricks on the mind, light which would represent the the true image seems to always find even the smallest of cracks through which to shine.

Aha---no matter how hidden, how disguised,
      the true nature shines through.

And relative to your first comment as mentioned,
the dual look picture---we see what we choose to see,
or how the magician directs the eye.

It's funny how even when we know it's all smoke and mirrors we can still enjoy the illusions of the hand being quicker than the eye.

Many people pay to see magic shows or professional wrestling for that matter purely for the entertainment value knowing on some level it can't possibly be real.

I had to google the French. lol

Minimal fee here for so much entertainment, right?

Aaron Bohrod, eminent artist known for trompe l'oil,
selected art from college entrants for a display.
The piece of mine he selected now stands on the ledge
of the wall leading down to my basement. It's a watercolor,
painted on location on the streets of Chicago, a somewhat
abstracted view of tenements, viewed from an alley.

I was so impressed by him at a mid point of his life, so much
              more to come.

                So much food for thought.

I'd love to see that piece sometime. I just googled Bohrod and what an honor he selected one of yours for display.

There's a particular painting that has stuck in my mind for years by Charles Wilson Peale. There was a special featured exhibition of his work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was a painting of two young colonial boys running up stairs. I remember feeling as though I could jump into the painting and follow them. I'll have to see if I can find it. Absolutely amazing.

Ah, an invitation to step through the doorway,
climb up the stairs. The turn of the starcase,
leading to the darkness....one wants to follow him!

Coffee at your 3:00 a.m. It's already tomorrow!
I have my mug stuffed full of an sssortment of fennel
stems and fronds, chamomile flowers, lemon balm leaves
and sprigs of spearmint, now at the stage of having
more water poured over to re-fill! the ever-giving herbs!
As well as the still flavorful lemon, cinnamon stick and
ginger slices tucked in. It's a big mug!

                      Elements to ponder!!!

I'm running up and down the stairs with Dunkin.
I sort of lost track of my caffeine consumption on vacation and will now have hell to pay when I cut it back again.

Your brew is way healthier and fragrant than mine.

Elements to ponder...what chambers await at the top of the stairs.

The power of art via the brush,
                  via words to tranport us.
                  What a gift, creativity!

My lasting scene- Art Institute of Chicago--
                  huge painting--pointilism, one tiny dot/daub
at a time---Seurat's "Sunday Afternoon on the
                  Island of La Grande Jatte"---impressionist,
he died very young. I knew I was not destined
to create with tiny dots---but I ended up painting,
much later in life, on very small pieces of clay!

Illusion is the effect, perception is our ability to see it. I guess the key here (if we wish to see this as a warning) is to try to understand when there is an illusion and then try to see truth and not just what we perceive. I'm speaking of human interactions and not literal spacial things.

It's ok to be fooled, not ok not to learn from it. But of course I know about the spacial thing, but your poem delves deeper for me.

Ah, Yemmie, you always get to the heart of the matter!
I couldn't tackle all the thoughts, the interpretations in
one piece, so I am sailing along, lettting the illusions
suggest to the mind ---as in "Is it real or is it Memorex?"
--oh, that's a really old slogan!
