black screen, babied

HOPE
  is the blackened screen
  on your telephone, after you
  come back from having had
  left it alone.

TO CRASH
  the feelings down when
  nothing is revealed. and again
  are ripped open wounds that
  we [almost] just healed.

STARE.
  a powerful force, you plead
with your eyes. 5 minutes, no
luck...was at least worth a try.

FALSE
  hope overcomes you at the
  sound of its ring. mother,
  just mother. the name
  hurts and stings.

IT'S NOT
  your boy, though you hoped
  he would call.
  silence and nothing. your
  heart slowly falls.

WAIT now
  on the sound
  that you know
  you won't hear.
  minutes pass by--
  they feel more like years.

SO AS
  that silent
  black screen, confirms
  your worst fears,
  all you can do, is cry onto it;
  Tears.
