Prelude
Secrets lost in desperate times only form a ruin.
Empty lives and empty lies just fray a normal soul.
Act I
Once asleep and once awake, I can’t help but to wish,
Though nothings there, though they can’t hear, though I beg until I bleed.
My prayers still echo with my empty dreams, and much with desperation,
And I can’t help but to close my eyes and picture imperfection.
All I’ve known and all I’ve lost always teetered on that edge.
Now with nothing left, I’ve lost that sight, and see a perfect beauty.
Irony is all that’s real and perfection is the lie.
Though they try to paint a colorful world, that’s really all they are.
Just artists in a dying trait that fail to see the end.
Just writers in an endless thought that fail to see a breach.
Just dreamers in their wistful worlds with nothing else to lose.
Author notes
I decided to make this poem in the form of a play. It seemed to fit. I might add more to it later and I might not.

congradulations on the bronze
I can hardly wait for act 2
Irony is all that’s real and perfection is the lie.
Though they try to paint a colorful world, that’s really all they are.
Just artists in a dying trait that fail to see the end.
Just writers in an endless thought that fail to see a breach.
Just dreamers in their wistful worlds with nothing else to lose.

I really like the form you've used--it's wonderful to experiment and try new poetic forms. I wonder if adding stage direction to the soliloquy would add or detract from the style…. (It may be something worth trying with this poem or another, just to see what happens.) I can almost feel the speaker pacing heavily as the words flow forth. I especially am drawn to the final three lines—the gut-wrenching distance between artists, writers, dreamers and the harsh real world. Thank you so much for your entry, and good luck.
