Fly said the Eagle, fly if you can
And pushed him right out of the nest
And he flapped and he flapped
As his little heart raced
He was out on his first major quest
He cried as he fell with the ground coming up
He spread out his talons to slow
He flapped those wings hard
As he plummeted down
To the rising ground waiting below
He flapped best he could and he begged to take flight
But it wasn’t as simple as that
He’d never been taught
That a bent wing could fly
And he struggled to hold his wings flat
He gasped for a breath in the buffeting wind
As his wings found the purchase they sought
He suddenly found
As he neared the hard ground
An incredible freedom of thought
As the first rush of wind filled the feathers so full
He felt himself climb up once more
And into the sky
He did rise like a king
Just to find that freedom to soar
That buffeting wind became his best friend
His wings felt the fullness of flight
His confidence grew
As with each flap he flew
And his body seemed fluently light
Now beauty abound is what he did see
As the air just carried him high
And with every small turn
That he made from then on
Made his father let out a great sigh
You have done it my son, you have taken the steps
To fly over our mother earth
And pleasures to see
As you fly there so free
Is all that we wanted from birth
Yes proud we are son that you’ve managed all this
And the first push was all that you needed
And when your children come
With your new mate to be
All lessons will be superseded
And as he snuggled there in a dream of content
With his mothers wings cradling light
He dreamed of the day
He would be on his way
Taking off with his parents in flight

Credits to you all with this write on the young eagle...As I read I thought, my they know alot about the eagles...and...I saw a spiritual side...Learning to fly in life....It takes alot of faith to take that leap out of the nest....and our Father God is so proud when we show that faith...Always a pleasure dear Lee.....Delightful!

Thanks so much for the Silver in this contest, and I do like the collaborative result.
Well done to all, and to Condor for putting it together so nicely.

Just wonderful indeed. I was afraid from the start that he was going to come to an untimely end and the tears started to well

So glad he didn't come to any harm
Great work all

Great work. Your different contributions meld together seamlessly. Love it!

Yeah, looks like a good choice. Coherency. I certainly see why my last stanza doesn't suit. A happy ending is nicer for the birdy, so I'm glad you gave it one.

Thanks you. The competition was a challenge and with the winning entries, it wasa bigger challenge to place the verses from each of their pieces into one. I think it worked out well myself. Thank you for reading and the great compliments.
