Did you thank someone today?

It was a pretty rainy day
Gray as the unknown corners
Of my soul
Until I walked out of this shell
I called my home
I called myself

And I smiled at
The first person I met

I walked on
Just walked on
Head lowered
Lingering
Limping through life
Down the road

Till I hugged
A ladybug

I didn't actually
I just imagined it
Because it was so beautiful
Because it deserved a hug
It was a living being
Deserving to be loved

So I wished a nice day
To a stranger passing my way

And I walked on
Just walked on
Head held high
Breathing the beauty of life
I didn't need imagination
Because the world was wonderful itself

And I thanked this life
For just being alive

I walked home again
And I smiled at everyone
Passing my way
And I thanked them for the
Little things they do
Because they deserve it too

So if you can't find your way
Turn around and look from where you've come
And thank someone for they
Will help you go along

  • I believe that we are all responsible for our energy. We move through our lives sometimes as if on autopilot and wake up wondering what happened!
Your heart and spirit comes through loud and clear in this piece. You have an appreciation for ALL living things. It is an amazing universe we live in. You make a difference just because you are here...thank you...Peace and light, Kendal

Joey, you are so sweet! I am running out of things to say because I love all your poems SO much! (lol, saying that reminds me of someone, can you guess who? )
This poem is great advice to just anyone human.
The part about the ladybug was so sweet, and I love how you "resolved" it...
    "I didn't need imagination
Because the world was wonderful itself" fantastic!

    I missed reading you here!
    Keep up the great work!
