I had a vision of a love but it never came true
Wanting someone to love me is all I knew
I listened to love songs and tears came to my eyes
My nights were spent lonely, the pillow muffled my cries
Romance movies with all the happy ever after
My desperation and loneliness hidden by my laughter
The love stories in novels did not reflect the truth
Dreaming of true love was wasted on my youth
But as I grew older I put those dreams on the shelf
The real true love I was missing, was loving myself
What did you think

i was looking for a part that i love most from this poem but i found i love the whole poem
from top to bottom
I had a vision of a love but it never came true
Wanting someone to love me is all I knew
I listened to love songs and tears came to my eyes
My nights were spent lonely, the pillow muffled my cries
Romance movies with all the happy ever after
My desperation and loneliness hidden by my laughter
The love stories in novels did not reflect the truth
Dreaming of true love was wasted on my youth
But as I grew older I put those dreams on the shelf
The real true love I was missing, was loving myself

So True
But as I grew older I put those dreams on the shelf
The real true love I was missing, was loving myself
I know how you feel.. I have learned you have to love yourself before you can be loved or love... wonderful poem with feeling and imagery..
