Thinking of childhood days,
When friendship was all I could find
And when everything seemed to amaze.
My hands come up, fingers curved over the black and white.
I breathe in deeply, captivated....
My eyes are lit up with a bright white light,
And I solemnly sat there and waited.
The music begins and I float to my home,
Where no one can find me and take me away.
There in the clouds is the place that I roam,
All over my face declairs I am quite gay.
I take up the melody through my fingers,
And master the technique for this particular song.
When I finish, the feeling lingers,
Staying in body and soul, dragging my heart along.
There's no place I'd rather be
Than sitting at this bench.
My fingers lightly skip across the keys
And I feel my heart wrench.
This music is my whole life
And without it my body completely disagrees.
So as I sit here in my place without strife,
I think of my love for those Ivory keys.

Good poem!

An imagery laden poem that delights this reader expressing a special relationship between the musician and the instrument. Good flow and visuals in this poem. Well done!

This is so sweet and amazing. Even though i have just started playing piano, I have found it to be so amazing. The noises that I draw from it might not be so; but just that amazing catharsis is enough to bring me back.
Thank you for sharing, and congratulations.
Blessed be,

Piano has always been a favorite of mine, though when i started, i was only seven, so the motivation to practice every day was definitely not there. Now, however, I play every time i feel like it which is at least once or twice a day! nine years running, and i'm still needing to improve so much. Music teaches you so much in life, and there's definitely not a day that goes by that i go without listening or playing.
thanks for the awesome comment.

Some of the rhymes were a stretch, but it was clearly a beautiful write, one could see how much you love the piano, great write!

Nice Job
A strong confirmation of the adage "Music is food for the soul" very well presented
in some good, nicely rhymed imagery...George...

My father was a brill pianist, much missed. I wrote a poem about him too, I liked every smooth flowing line here except one. line twelve. Stanza two is my favourite, I could almost see you there.

Yeah line 12 was difficult - i was trying to make it rhyme and gay could also mean happy, though in this day and age, it's definitely not used all that much. do you have any suggestions to change that?

Outstanding
I understand your user name a bit better now! I must admit I miss playing the piano. This poem speaks of your love for this instrument and all it means to you and I liked the images you chose to bring this to life. This is a positive and uplifting poem that will appeal to all the musicians who read it. Brilliant to read.

I love this poem. It has a great flow ,a great focus, and it tells a story about a person and the passion. A very wonderful write and I see you think so as well. Don't change a single thing about this unless you feel that it's necesscary. The title fits the poem. The first line sets the tone of a pianist trying to find inspiration and suddenly the masterpiece begins and doesn't stop until the last line or the last "note" if I may. Nothing I could suggest to make this better than it is. Keep doing what you are doing.
