Evolution by Darwin

While nature studying the Galapagos
Charles kept a journal to intrigue us.
Meticulous in detailed form
at home he met ridicule and scorn.
He showed his findings in detailed sketches
to show the truth to we poor wretches.
The `Church` was filled with wrath and ire
condemned his work to Hell`s fierce fires.
`It is written different in the Holy Book
you are one blasphemous  crook.
The Lord made heaven and earth in days
how can you say another way?`
In spite of all his denigration
he kept his views for all the nation.
His theory of natural evolution
almost brought a revolution.
Today he`s proved to be correct
by institutions most select.
That voyage of the good ship Beagle
had one observer with eyes of eagles
and a brain to see the clues
when put before the most obtuse.
