Missing image
Old bum hangs out by the store where old men go
to while away the hours, lie about past glory, drink coffee
argue politics, talk horses.

Gas up my barn truck on colored diesel, wondering how come I thought this fuel would save money.
Always feel that bum staring at my legs then on up to my butt.
followed me in and out of that place, never saying a word,
old gray face so focused ever hopeful for a hand out to satisfy his addiction.

Sat down outside beside him with Reeses Peanut Butter cups,
he has one I have the other.
This old man is quiet the casanova.
Watch in my rear view mirror, another woman pulls in,
as he begins to start those loving ways all over again.

Author notes

This was good and very funny! I lauged the most at this part:

Sat down outside beside him with Reeses Peanut Butter cups,
he has one I have the other.
This old man is quiet the casanova.
Watch in my rear view mirror, another woman pulls in,
as he begins to start those loving ways all over again.

But it overall was good and it all made me laugh. Thanks for entering my contest and best of luck to you!

    Nice job!

You did a splendid job on this piece. .I especially liked the picture. Thanks for the poem Rheea!

  • Wonderfully done Sis...

Great observational narrative with vivid imagery that makes for compelling piece with an edge of reality that was quite endearing...
    Impressive as always...
    Keep up the good work...
    Well done!!!

  • I'm an old bum can I please get on that stoop and admire your butt? And other bits, I'm not choosy. This is a very witty poem and succeeds because of its lightness of touch and its reality.

well I was pretty sure that was him in the picture
but; I saw the dog as a symbol of friendship...with a
bunch of old men spoiling him with candy,,,just as
you did....lol [you were plain enough]...but my imagery
        tends to run wild....lol
