Coincidence?

I was so thick
so utterly blear-eyed.
You were so bright

so ironically alert.
I believed in fairy-tales
You believed in logic.
Coincidence?

I think not.

I was becoming scintillating

so powerfully brilliant.

You were becoming dim-witted

so pathetically idiotic.

I was doing well.

You were doing poorly.

Coincidence?

I think not.

I laugh at you now.

Always trying to make me do worse

and make you do-by comparison- better..

You say I got it all wrong.

I correct your improper English.

You get mad

I just smile...

Because I've already won.

Author notes

Okay the story behind this poem.

There's this used-to-be apathetic guy named Zach. I really hate him and when I'm being nice he's mean. when I mean he's nice.

So I got him mad and smiled.. because I totally beat him at his mind games. I used a big word

yay?

    Good write here

Yes many people like to play mind games but I have found those who criticise others often are worse off than those being criticsised so hold your ground

Sometimes it is not worth winning
When winning causes the destruction of something else you need to be sure the destruction was worth the prize
In saying that this was nicely put together

It is always good when you gain the upper hand; I've had mates like this through my life and in the end we always fell over laughing at our silliness

    Stay safe

Sorry to say but this one had me giggling. I can think back to when I was in school and knew someone who fitted this bill. Only difference was, I punch him in the nose. Never bothered me again. Great write and keep up the great work. Don't take s**t from anyone.

Yay! Who needs friends like that? Smile and let him simmer. Good poem, great imagery. You tell a good story here, yes people and their mind games are too weird sometimes
