Good Old Jeff

Missing image

Just newly married
All was pure bliss
The memories remain
But some I don’t miss

We wanted a pet
A dog was our pick
My wife named him Jeff
She taught him some tricks

Old Jeff wasn’t cute
In fact he was grim
Along with this fact
I learned to hate him

Old Jeff had a problem
He was gassy you see
He would stink up the house
And my wife would blame me

I tried to explain
I wasn’t at fault
Jeff did it dear
She said I was caught

Old Jeff would just smile
With that look in his eye
I wanted to choke him
I cannot deny

Friends would come over
You guessed it right
Old Jeff would walk by
That ended the night

I had an idea
His food was to blame
But the green clouds returned
And smelled just the same

I finally gave up
I’d just apologize
For what Jeff had done
Then kick him outside

I really liked this, it gives an air (no pun intended) of what we men go through in life, taking the blame and sitting back and say "OK" I did it - loved it

    • It's all a matter of picking your battles. When you know the battle's lost before you begin, well, you know where it goes from there.

    • Thanks so much. I hope your day gets better and I'm glad you could get a lift from this.

  • roflmbo... omg... this is too dang funny and I have no idea if you wrote this from bio or if you made it up, but I am thinking that you probably wrote this from facts... lol

This had a great rhythm and rhyme scheme that just led me down the page at a great speed and it was a pure pleasure to read dear.

I am so pleased to have added you to my favorites because everytime I click on one of your writes I am never disappointed. You make my reading journeys worth the jaunts. Thank you for that!

    • Actually, this write is both fact and fiction. My oldest son has an Old English Bulldog and believe me, that dog can run you out of the house. I received the picture in an email from a friend and thought it was just too funny so the poem developed from there.
Thanks for reading, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
