Bottles on the Horizon

Sand between your toes.
A gentle wave slides.
Dampness spreads, water rises.

On the horizon, something can be seen.
A bottle, floating atop the sea.
Floating right towards you.

Within the bottle, lies nothing. Is nothing.
But you had the bottle none the less.
Is there sorrow to be had?

A thousand more bottles roll in.
Each with a thousand stories.
Always told, but never heard?

But alas! A note in a bottle.
A story that reaches to your very soul.
And then, in a wave of water, it is gone.

Truth lost at the hands of the seas.
But is it alone?
Are you?

No! Notes exist yet.
The loss of one is not the loss of them all.
And another day will yet shine.

See the bottles.
Feel the notes.
Stay in the water.

    Nice piece.

I liked this a lot but the word 'alas' shows regret and is never succeeded with an exclamation mark. Well done, though.
