a lesson for the girls

To all the young girls, listen hard and listen good,
there's lessons school won't teach you, though i wish they would.
There's some things that right now you just don't understand,
so listen to me and I'll lend you a hand.
emotions go with sex, believe me it's true,
you may think you can separate them, but it's not easy to do.
Keep your innocence as long as you can,
waiting for marriage, become a fan.
If a guy says he loves you, it's not always true,
though some are honest, it's only a few.
your friends may give it up, they may says its fun,
but they won't talk about the hurt that's left when they're done.
The used, lonely feeling that many get,
believe me now, it's more than enough to regret.
Though some may laugh and say your lame,
realize your better than playing their game.
If a guy says he loves you, ask him to wait,
if he says no, than he never was that great.
So keep your innocence, stay strong,
I wish I would have done that all along.

Author notes

the flow of this sucks, the rhyming is slightly forced but it came from my heart. im regreting letting some jerks take my innocence. i wish so much i still had it

  • Wow this was a really powerful and passionate write. I've actually been thinking about this exact subject lately debating whether to wait or not. Thank you for this poem. And no matter what you can still be whoever you want to be and show up those jerks that hurt you.

    Touching and true

Don't let those jerks get you down. You will always have the respect you deserve in my mind.Your words make my heart swell with love for anyone who is convinced, lied to,or pressured into doing anything before they are ready for it. Don't stop being you. Losing your innocence doesn't mean you are corrupt, dirty or unworthy of anything or anyone you chose to be in your life. Great Poem.

i liked this write, it sounded like a witty way something a mother would say to their daughter at the age of 13.
the rhyme was good, i just think it was the last line that sounded weird. another word that rhymed with strong could have played in better here.

like wording it with "wrong" somehow.

    -good write though.

    nice

I think it's good to have a sobering poem like this one that addresses real world issues that no one wants to speak realistically about.

  • wonderful, heart-felt write
