Love Spell

Missing image

A twisted wreckage

this thing I call my heart

that's okay

being buried under the debris

Of us.

If you could forget

the taste of her skin

For just a quiet minute

this inferno of hell

wouldn't hurt so much.

Spare me the clues

Of your happiness

just hit the pavement

let me go.

I see your eyes

in the shadows of strangers

late night calls

forbidden touch,

Why does love hurt so much?

Author notes

My heart can't tell me no.

this is truly a classic rod stewart song.

(Oops! Apparnetly I already comment on this fine poem of yours, but forgot!!!)Most poignant and pithy... sparse, but still very potent write, with the thrid stanza speaking volumes... really like this poem a big bunch!!

A very aptly done piece of poetry on a subject that entirely too many of use have first hand experience with... again a very well done and potent piece of verse here!!

The 2nd stanza is heartbreaking. A very good take on the song - I love Rod Stewart - have seen him a few times. Best of luck in the contest.

And you are truly a classic/classy lady, as well. A piece resplendent with sorrow, my Friend. My own favorite album of Rod's is still "Every Picture Tells a Story". I saw him in concert during his "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" phase. Ummm...he was dressed in a red & white striped suit; he looked like a skinny peppermint stick. Good luck in the contest, Sweetie.

    Well done!

You always seem to be able to get right at it. Don't know too much about the song but the poem pretty much tells the tale. And, of course, I always hope these poem are pure imagination and not experiential. Nicely written, as always, little one.
