I could sit and relish the peace for evermore.
Listening to the swoosh of the pewter waves
as they curl and fall on their way to the shore.
Hear the swish as they run up the orange sand,
colours reflecting from the warm evening sky.
The golden rays of the sun streaked over the water
and across the wet sand until where it runs dry.
All alone on the beach tasting tangy, salty air,
mesmerised by the ancient rhythm of the sea.
A haunting cry of a bird riding the thermals
echoing in my heart with his joy to be free.

An absolutely beautiful piece that truly touches the soul. This is one georgous sunset in this picture, and your words mimic the oceans rhythm. I once many years ago as a schoolgirl went on a camping trip and very early in the morning, around 4, we went swimming down the beach. Opposite to what you have mentioned but none the less, the feeling was such that has remained with me till this day. Excellent rhyme and flow that made me want to just settle down and close my eyes and listen for the peaceful sound that cannot be matched. Congratulations on the silver trophy...so well deserved from a writer who's poetry is always so mesmerizing.

Condor, thank you so very much for saying such nice things about this poem. You are right, it makes no difference if it is the start of a new day or at the end of one, the beach has such a spiritual contact with your soul. Summer or winter, sunshine, wind or rain and even snow, you feel closer to to whatever pulls inside your heart. I adore the ocean and all its moods.

Peaceful and Serene
Wow what an amazing write, it brought a sense of peace and serenity over me while reading and left me wanting more. I used to live near the ocean in Florida and I could walk on the beach and lose myself and my problems for a time before reality would set back in. I loved the sunsets and sunrises the most. Your poem is full of such vivid imagery and emotion.
I used to feed the overhead seagulls they would come down and snatch the food right out of my hand was so cool. Anyways thanks for sharing and congrats on the Silver. Keep up the amazing writing my dear friend, hugs Theresa

Thank you Theresa, for commenting on my poem about the sea in the evening sun. I see you posted it while I was away. I am having a really dry spell with writing at the moment with some problems going on so I hope it will soon pass and I can get back to it. There is nothing on earth like a beach to sooth a troubled mind and it matters not where that beach is, hot or cool climates, it seems to cleanse the soul.

I hope you get a chance to enjoy the inner calm again before too long Nicole. The healing powers of the sea shore is great, no matter if it is calm or rough, it soothes your soul and lifts your spirit.

How lovely - so peaceful and relaxing. Wonderful images.
One of the things I have enjoyed most in life is just sitting and watching the sunrise and sunsets over an ocean......don't get to do it often, but each time I do the memory lasts and stays with me.
Beautiful picture, lovely wording. Very nicely done. I truly enjoyed this.

Thank you Islekine. This is a picture I keep in my mind whenever I need a place to hide from the world. I love the ocean and sometimes I feel a really overpowering need to be near it. Some people have never seen the ocean at all so I count myself as one of the lucky ones to have experienced sights like this first hand in my life.

such a lovely piece, engaging the spirit and leaving a soft sentiment that one could fly off into a place where our perspective may not be obscured by the day to day issues clouding sight.
