Somewhere he loves me,
captured in a photograph,
printed on deceased paper
bound in a stack of old Christmas cards
and friendly greetings from the ocean afar...
but nothing in this world
can capture the truth behind the eyes
or the deceiving motions
of everyday life
that beautifully render the world powerless.
he can cradle the skin of romance
in between his fingers,
and through the shield of sunlight
he can see the darkness
that encircles his mind
and shuts him out
but the descent into himself
is written through the laughter.
and there.
he's sitting
gazing out
onto the flat sea
desolate and lonely
wishing that whatever may come
comes his way with the rolling wind of nighttime
and whatever may come
warms his bones
and helps him relive the silence
that makes him smile.

m o d e r n x t i m e s
Somebody with the power to do something cannot. He's waiting at the edge for something to come along and help him reach the one he loves.
I'm in love but I don't think this is about him.

I really ike this poem and i can see who ever"he" is sitting onthat faraway beach. My ony tip woud be to be sighty more specific asto who you're in reference to, a boyfriend and ex-lover, a faraway loved one, etc.

thanks. and I guess I wasn't that specific because I like my poems to be a bit vague so the experience is different for everyone. But I can take your comment into consideration. Thank you!
