Base Idols

Do you not understand Christ's Words?
What enters mankind's mouth is not judged as vain,
for it does not enter the heart:
food flows to one's belly and leaves without stain.
Nay, sin comes from an evil heart:
immoral thoughts, adulteries, wickedness,
and fornications, thefts, murders,
along with deceit and pride and greediness.
Yea, the heart can slay one's own soul
by its lies, evil eyes, and minds seeking lust.
Base idols die by their own hand;
for one sets up self as foolish and unjust.
They are faithless cohorts in death,
sinful and adulterous; of Christ ashamed
and offended by God's great Words.
During His splendid return, they will be slain.
By what they do and words they speak,
to their damnation, they offend self and God,
and never can enter Christ's rest.
They grind teeth and wail beneath and on dead sod.
Jesus once said, "They who divorce
and marry others commit adultery."
Thus be one in God's Law of Life,
as God and Christ agree; still, they turned to flee.
