Moon Over Mariza

Silken sky gift-wraps the orb
preparing the ultimate,
the perfection of all gifts,
a moon so personally intimate.

Through a break in the leafy branches,
she looks upwards to the sky;
safe in the embrace of the park lights,
the moon poet emits a soft sigh.

Mystic orb shines in unusual intensity,
dressing the trees in colors surreal,
dazzling the poet of the moonlight,
presenting a gift of lunar appeal.

I love the colors you've used in the artwork, and all the ways in which you've used the moon in the poem. Both are lovely, especially since there's such a contrast between the physical moon and the hues of the one that you have created. The lines "safe in the embrace of the park lights, / the moon poet emits a soft sigh" are so gentle and tender.... Wonderful work, as always.

Yes, a favorite moon-watching place for the subject
when she is able to be there! Tried to get her favorite
color of green into the variations. Lots of manipulations
to get the effects, focal points accented, reversals,
using all the tools available to produce the effects!!

      Thank you, Crystal.

    Dear Aesthete.

It was to be expected, for her birthday very soon,
that you would pen some tribute to my daughter of the moon.
Your artistry and imagery withal are bound to please her,
the loveliest of moonlight poets, mi querida Mariza.

el padre sends applausos, amor y abrazos, XXX.

Thank you M-C! What wonderful graphics and poem, you remember the park too! I haven't seen the moon above the trees in a while. First weather wasn't so clear in the evenings, now it is, but I can't go walk in the park yet.
Thanks for this lovely birthday poem, and thanks to all happy birthday wishes here

Yes, I was concerned you might be window watching,
so I dreamed up some fantasy moons for you,
since I can't compete with reality!!
Note that the trees aren't actually there,
but there is a different hue of Mari-green
      in each of the graphics!!!!

Now let everyone wait on you on your birthday!!

      Love and hugs,

Who? I don't recognize her in the words. I better behave or she'll use her voodoo doll on me.

It's lovely, I like the sort of play-on words, the title matching the graphic, and of course the literal aspect of it. I'm sure if she can see it, she'll be gazing at it tonight and making a wish on it (since I just decided that if you wish on the moon on your birthday, that wish will come true.) Oh, boy I'm going to be rich...actually I have a different wish. I can't say or it won't come true.

    It's lovely MC.

I already wished her a yada yada,

Voodoo----hmmm---wondering if I lined up all the graphics,
Ima, Kay, the carpenter, the guy in the vest, et al---I wonder---
Awe, you know that softy that I am I couldn't stick voodoo pins in!!!

Hold that bday thought---counting down the hours------

Not you, Mariza. You didn't know? She is into black magic...she's a Wicca too. Believes in some strange things. I think she dresses like a vampire on her birthday. I probably shouldn't be saying all this in a comment. She swore me never to mention this stuff, or how she drinks blood on her birthday. Shhhh, it's a secret. No one reads my comments so all is safe.

Your words may come back and voodoo stick you---ooops,
there goes Ima, grabbing his arm---shot right in the elbow!

It's the hex of the moon on the non-believing!!!!

          Gotcha!

Ya better watch out---or your bday wish on the moon
          will be intercepted!

I was serious. She's in league with dark forces. That nice routine of hers is just a cover.

I better delete these now, I better not let others know the truth!

              Whoooooooooooooooo...............

I think Mariza will be thrilled when she opens this personalized bithday greeting.

The moon has to be ultimate of all gifts. I think of "I would give you the moon if I could" or from "It's A Wonderful Life" when George offers to lasso the moon for Mary. Beautiful Aes, simply beautiful.

Happy Birthday Mariza! Hope you have a wonderful day.

Well, with the help of bucket effects
I can give it additional glows!!!!

Imagine how many times it's been
      given away, wished upon,
      photographed,
      painted and drawn!

      Thank you, pix,

It is a constant source of inspiriation for artists, poets, lovers and dreamers.

I had to put this in my comment...
George Bailey: What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon, Mary.

          I can hear the voice---the exasperation--the excitement!
Classic actor, classic film. It's always the voice that reamins
so clear---even when the person has aged years and years.

On "Murder She Wrote" angela Lansbury would often bring on
actors we knew from years ago, who hadn't been seen in
"prime time" in a long time. There it was the voice, the voice--
I knew it so well. Looked at the face, but got it from the voice--
          Blondie---Penny Singleton!!!!

At the times those films were made, rather a far fetched dream
that the work would live on for generations!!

I loved Jimmy Stewart in everything I ever saw him in. Cagney's another favorite Jimmy of mine from classic films.

Blondie was what late fifties? Vaguely remember that in reruns. Lucy's another story. I have the complete series on DVD even though I've seen them all a thousand times by now. lol

Good thing someone thought about film preservation at some point but not Ted Turner kind. lol Some things just don't look right colorized, IMO of course. lol

So, the moon leads us to thoughts of old movies,
              of course, it's jsut natural.

The Blondie and Dagwood movies from '39-'50. also radio series.
Just checked. She was the first woman to be president of a
branch of the AFL/CIO, led a strike by the Rockettes of Radio
City Musical Hall. (Lots of moons on those sets!!)

Oh, colorization! The scourge of black and white movies!
I sent my small contribution to the preservation fund. It was
sad to see all the films rotting away in rusting metal containers.
Hurrah for those who took it upon themselves to save them!
