another night on stilts,
exhausting-
you know I was made to dance
why else would you come...
not for the toys and holiday snaps;
backdrops to hide the spaces,
distract from tittering pauses-
diffuse potential guilt?
I know why you come here,
so...

this is so how I used to be
though these days
I tend to get the party started

-
I'm a sucker for an ending that snaps you to attention. Yours did just that.

I was just thinking of you
Hope you're well. Thanks for coming by!

oh, I read this and paused, and read again - very effective writing. I confess I am a little chilled by the control of the final line...

hehe, yeah, I had to pause and breathe for a sec before writing it and ending it there. Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks!

Lovely, Chenoa.
Perfectly written - really. I adored the extended metaphor and the great imagery.
Really loved the rather pointed ending.

that's a nice sensation
and once you stop you don't
you keep spinning -
-
and then everything is dancing
-
-
and then the sensation of voma comes...

-
but I'm very fond of cheetos, so it is at least brightly coloured

the dances are all different. Different partners and different situations but the dance is the same. This plays out again and again and not just in your piece. You have a way around words in this case while still delivering the message. RC
