50 years

"I'm so sorry he had to go."
A loved one consoles the newly widowed woman

"It's ok."

The loved one walks away thinking of how much she has to hurt
Not knowing what true love is
And what is like to be old and have wisdom

Many come up to here
They all say the same thing
And she repeats the two words

Everyone thinks she's lieing
Little do they know
She's not

Becuase she had 50 years together
And they had talked many times about death
Esp. in the last months

They talked of their happy times
And their memories of being together
They talked about how much they loved being with each other
And how they each ment so much to the other

But most important of all
Is that they both promised
That if one would go before the other

The one in heaven
Would wait at the gates
For their love to come

And the one left on Earth
Would not cry for the other
They would lead the rest of their life
To the fullest they could

And when the day when they would join together again
They would walk into heaven
Hand in hand

And they would gaze at their creator
And thank her/him for letting them find
Their other half
