Red Shoes & Self-Esteem

Missing image
The scale’s getting fickle so
it’s between red heels or potato chips-

Sting-
It has to be the heels because they
are calorie-free, and scream out
me in the middle of a dance;
I can lean against the wall, arch them and see
the spikey shadow, a
curvy sillouette, draping hair,
red glitter feet mirrored in the lava lamp.

Oh, the red, the red ,
the red of it;
high, high heels
with the vamp that lifts my
toes toward the air
till this young girl resurrects and I’m something.

Kick the train of I think I can
red shoes, red shoes; a wing and prayer;
okay … lookout,  this girl's motivated
and back in business.

    Wonderful...

    Reading "Red Shoes & Self-Esteem" with the natural eyes' scanner one may feel a striking laughing on its wit points, but when one reads it with the eyes of the soul, first comes a giggling feeling, then a message comes: "DON'T FORGET YOUR SCIATIC NERVE; REMEMBER YOUR SPINAL CORD..."

    I have enjoyed the reading of "Red Shoes & Self-Esteem". A wit-wise composition on our todays' society ways. A literary treat in poetic expressions.

    In respect and admiration,

    Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

    So empowering!

    It would be more of a risk to take to the heels when keeping an eye on the scales so. Is scales a play on words? hmmmm I have a set of red heels I've not worn in ages...:-)

    For some reason, this poem reminds me of a Musical I have yet to write. You make the read one that is filled with the gaiety of life. I can see the shoes dancing, see how they cause an ache and a smile to cover up because we ladies know that "beauty knows no pain". LOL Girl you know we have to have our heels. It's been a while since I bought a pair of beautiful red heels, the higher, the better. LOL Thanks for the inspiration. I'm going shopping in the morning.

    Much Love Always ♥

      Your love is lifting me 'higher'

      Well, if I can help, let me collaborate! I can sing, dance, or compose the lyrics. But being the root of inspiration is still the ... BEST! Me too. I'm going to get those things again. "Your love is liftin' me higher". That song will sing it. Yeh.
      thank you darling for sharing and commenting!

    Ah!

    I know the wondrous magic of red, Red Shoe Girl! My sister said some years after her son died: It will once again become time for the red dress dance, but not yet.

    You write such a happy poemie here. Forever inside, the red shoe skip in musical steps!

    Love to you, Poetess.

    Oh, thank you. We do not have to lie down and accept what other people tell us is proper for us. Life doesn't end when we become "middle-aged," in fact, that is when it is getting to be the best. All I can say is "you go girl!"

    This is refreshing and so very well written. I especially love the imagery and the repetition of the color "red." "Oh, the red, the red, the red of it." Delicious!

    Danger Will Robinson

    You are woman, I hear your cry.
    For me... 'red, means danger.
    Reckless behaviour in the works.
    'Whatever works & by any means necessary.
    & "too hot for me". lol
