A walk that starts my every day
I saunter 'pon the forest way
in front of me a kangaroo grey
just staring, then it hops away.
On sun filled days they are quite slack
sunbaking, no intent attack,
when I come near they jump the track
together leaving in a pack.
They hang around in families
with people near they don't feel free
at night around my house they see
my scaredy cat inside she flees.
They stand in such majestic mode
often in the middle road
between the groups there seems a code
it's time to flee to their abode.
The fields are huge , they camouflage
even though they're very large
and into bush they surely charge
and disappear in fast discharge.
Because of drought they come so near
for lack of water is their fear
survival often why they appear
yet living in the bushlands near.
A quiet place of peace and calm
there's very little to alarm
except in summer snakes can harm
this place I Iive has major charm
