...silken paper
full of versed vows,
and I will let it fly free
over the waters
to mirror the poetry
of us.
oh! no matter the season,
no matter the time...
if rain washes the ink,
if gusts of wind blow it
above the clouds
still, it will sing
to the world
the words of love
along the string
leading to my heart.
if night and moon
do not bring the light
I will summon the stars
to shine for you.
Author notes
Prompt: 3. Poem inspired by a song - Simon Dupree: Kites
Kites
I will fly a yellow paper sun in your sky
When the wind is high, when the wind is high
I will float a silken silver moon near your window
If your night is dark, if your night is dark
In letters of gold on a snow white kite
I will write "I love you"
And send it soaring high above you
For all to read
I will scatter rice paper stars in your heaven
If there are no stars, if there are no stars
All of these and seven wonders more will I find
When the wind is high, when the wind is high

Beautiful, Sentimental Artistry...
How wonderfully romantic! That must be one very special (and lucky) person, if you "will summon the stars to shine" for them!!
Best wishes in the contest!!
