Extremes

Missing image

When nuclear ships  . .

collide at sea

And man destroys . .

the bumble bee

Whilst politicians sip . .

their Earl Gray tea

This could be the end  . .

Of you and me

When conflicts are spawned

By diverse religions

Wisdom replaced by bickering

And spiritual derision

I find my self wondering

God . .Where will it end?

Is it beyond religious principles

To make amends

Why can’t the Bible,

Torah and the Koran

Simply all be merged . .

For the betterment of man

As Christens respond

To the steeple bell

Distant Mullah’s flinch

And scream “Go to Hell”

Would The Profit Mohamed

Really have approved . .

And what would Jesus thought

Reflected and construed . .

No . . there must be something

Tragically wrong

When religious feelings

Are so strong

I feel it is time that God

Stepped into the fray

And made all denominations

Think his way . .

For when nuclear ships  . .

Collide at sea . .

And man destroys . .

the Bumble Bee

And politicians sip . .

their Earl Gray tea

This could be the end  . .

Of you and me

Author notes

Despite all their technical sophistication, last year several war ships collided at sea . .
And currently due to signals from hand phones plus excessive use of chemicals – bees and insects are being killed off and pollinations is becoming a problem for fruit and veg.

I liked the rhyme and the subject matter - i liked how u refrained from bashing any religion (cleverly putting distant mullahs to mean the few misguided ones)...however, i beleive each religion that you have mentioned has no problems if the follower does so strongly - this is a sure route to spiritual enlightenment. It is the extreme (and ultimately wrong) feelings that lead to problems...i know you wrote strong to rhyme with wrong, but i would go back and edit this part so that you create a more authentic piece...aside from that, good work.

I live in Maryland, not far from Washington DC, and I hardly ever see grasshoppers anymore. When I was a kid, I used to like to turn large rocks over and watch as all the little creatures skittle and scamper back to safety. Now I'm lucky to see a single ant.

That which breathes in government, exhales putrifaction.

The Good News, which you well know, my friend, is that it's going to get worse before it gets better.

  • I beleive its quite brave but also quite vulgar of you to mention God's way being made the only way, or religions having to sacrifice certain views and values to satisfy another religion. I believe it best to not make everyone conform as that is often the root of utter chaos. However you make some valid points and i definitely agree that there are things in this world that majority would benefit from if altered. We do of course share the same world.
Not entirelly sure if we know each other or the reasoning behind you linking me to this piece, however I thank you for feeding my thoughts. Not sure if I can applaud using this device...
    Cheers.

    Outstanding

    Very thought provoking...

    "Why can’t the Bible,

What a GREAT original idea. Someone should publish them all together with cross references. The Koran would start with Abraham and going forward from there be interlaced with the Torah and the "New Testament."
